Gym Leader Frederic

Frederic is the Gym Leader of Magnacreek City's Gym, known officially as the Magnacreek Gym. He specializes in Pokemon and gives the Snowflake Badge to Trainers who defeat him.

Frederic is considered to be the strongest Gym Leader but, sadly, also the laziest. His Gym is located in the hottest town of the region. Thus, he started to produce ice cream by using the Ice Attacks of his Pokemon. An absolute winner of a business idea what alas forces him to neglect his duties as a Gym Leader gravely. Instead of waiting for a challenger in his Gym like all the other Leaders do, he rather travels through the coastal towns of Horatz and sells his ice cream at beaches. Most of the other Gym Leaders and also the majority of the people in Magnacreek City think that this behaviour is pretty irresponsible since he seems to waste the abilities of his well- trained team as well as his own skills as a Trainer. Frederic, however, has the opinion that he just does what he and his Pokemon think is the best for them. He won't fight someone as long as he doesn't have a decent reason. Yet as soon he has found one, he will hit the foe as hard as he can.

You encounter him several times through your journey through the region, every time near a beach where he sells his self-made ice cream. Frederic never says a word about being a Gym Leader or being a Trainer in general. His Gym is closed when you try to enter it for the first time. You have to find him on the Magnacreek Beach where he, once again, sells ice cream at the beach goers. When you talk to him, he firstly isn't too fond of battling with you yet as he notices that you already earned seven Gym Badges, he is encouraged enough to return to his Gym. Before he leaves, he bestows you some Magnacreek Ice Cream.
While the Gym Leader Meeting at Professor Maple's place, Frederic suggests that they all have to go to the Sunken Temple to stop Team Data. While everybody is shocked that it is HIM who comes up with the idea since he normally is the guy who waits and wonders, Frederic explains that he simply needs a good reason to start a fight and stopping Team Data is one of the best reasons he has ever heard. He also suggests Fayola as the Leader of the squad as long as the Champ and the Elite Four are absent. Inside the temple, you travel together with him through the first part of the temple where you fight some Team Data Grunts with him. Yet due to Rockland's doings, you two divide per accident though you meet him and the other Gym Leaders in front of the Cosmic Shrine in the centre of the temple.

His Signature Pokemon is a Cloyster (because Vanilluxe would be a little too obvious).

Gym Riddle: In the snow-filled Gym, you have to increase the size of several snowballs so that you can kick them down a hill and break through one of the four ice gates that block your path. You increase the size either little by little while moving it around on the snowy ground, or a little faster by challenging the eight Trainers. The last snowball will end up on a huge ice cream cone which you use as a bridge to the icy platform Frederic is standing on.
