Gym Leader Rockland

Rockland is the Gym Leader of Stonevalley City's Gym, known officially as the Stonevalley Gym. He specializes in Pokemon and gives the Canyon Badge to Trainers who defeat him.

He is the most-hated Gym Leader in the entire region due to his aggressive behaviour and his self-centred personality. Rockland despises the weak and losing while he is very proud on his own strength. His Gym isn't located in Stonevalley City itself but on a small canyon in the north of the town. The reason behind it is that Rockland only wants to battle strong Trainers. They have to proof they are worthy his attention by passing the mountain way to him before they can enter the actual Gym. Furthermore, he is not too welcome in the town since he always starts fights with other inhabitants. Still, the people in Stonevalley must admit that he is the strongest Trainer in town. BY FAR!

You meet Rockland for the first time on your way to Stonevalley City where he runs into you but blames you for not paying any attention and heads in the direction of Stonevalley City. In town, you see him arguing with some people about the Team Data Grunts that steal more and more Pokemon recently around the town. But Rockland states that this is none of his concerns since those who can't protect their own Pokemon aren't worth to have some in the first place. Then he notices you again. After he observed you and realized that you want to challenge him he yells at you that he has no time to play with kids and leaves the town in direction of the Gym. Even after you defeat him, he gives you the Canyon Badge most unwillingly.
By the end of the story, he traps you in a room of the Sunken Temple where he states that he sided with Team Data the entire time. His motive was that only the strongest have the right to exist on this planet, this is a natural rule. Nemonai and Orisolus had no right to exist anymore after they lost their true forms in the War of the Legendaries. So Rockland challenges you to a second battle and this time, he won't hold back. The winner is the only one who can leave this room alive! After you defeated him, he states that he was just winning some more time for Omega, the leader of Team Data. But he also admits his loss and says since he is a weakling too, he also has no right to exist anymore so he releases all of his Pokemon that push you out of the room before it gets fluted.

His Signature Pokemon as a Gym Leader is a Gigalith while he has a totally different team of Pokemon when you fight him in the Sunken Temple. His strongest Pokemon in this battle is a Mega-Tyranitar.

Gym Riddle: The Gym at the end of the canyon is a mountain with two spiral ways to the top. Now and then, boulders will block one of the ways and you have to defeat one of the six (male) trainers that run around the mountain so that they will clean the way for you. On the top of the mountain stands Rockland and watches the scenery until you make it to him.
